How Does Multitouch Work?

Promultis multitouch solutions use 2 different multitouch technologies:

Cell Imaging

An infrared touchscreen uses an array of X-Y infrared LED and photodetector pairs around the edges of the screen to detect a disruption in the pattern of LED beams. These LED beams cross each other in vertical and horizontal patterns.

This helps the sensors pick up the exact location of the touch. A major benefit of such a system is that it can detect essentially any input including a finger, gloved finger, stylus or pen..

Compatible with: Windows 8/7/Vista/XP, Mac OS X, Ubuntu/Fedora

Projected Capacitive

Projected capacitive technology uses a flexible polymer foil that has more than 4000 nodes in the grid to provide high accuracy and responsiveness to the touch experience.

This technology allows a completely flush surface giving a sleek look and has the added benefit of being resistant to liquids and UV light. The film can be attached to any non conductive surface such as glass or wood, allowing the creation of touchscreen windows.

Compatible with: Windows 8/7, Ubuntu 12.04/12.10, OSX 10.5 or later, Raspberry Pi
